Windstorm Inspection
Why have a windstorm inspection? • To save money on your homeowner’s insurance. • Better understand how your home will perform in high winds. • Peace of mind knowing you have taken the right steps to protect your home. Who can and who can’t get an inspection? Most residential homes qualify for a windstorm inspection. These include single family site built homes, town homes and condominiums. Mobile and modular homes do not qualify. What will it tell me? PWI and On The Level Home Inspection, state-certified inspectors will assess 7 critical areas of your home – roof deck and attachments, roof to wall connections, roof shape and bracing, secondary water barrier, roof covering and opening protection for windows and doors. Windstorm and hurricane mitigation experts agree that these features are critical to “harden” your home and safe guard your family. Why On The Level Home inspection Of Florida ( OTL ) is state-approved and certified by the State of Florida to perform windstorm inspections in North Florida. OTL is affiliated with PWI, the only state-certified entity located in Panhandle, with inspectors located throughout North Florida. PWI is the only state-certified firm in North Florida that received a “100% compliance” rating on our policies and procedures by the State of Florida. In addition, every OTL/PWI inspection goes through a rigorous Quality Assurance program where every inspection is reviewed for completeness and accuracy. Also, four-color photographs of the exterior of your home and attic photos are included with every inspection to verify the inspections findings. More and more insurance companies are requiring color photos to be included. What will I save? Every home is different and some have better features than others. However, a State of Florida analysis projects the average homeowner in North Florida will save approximately $250 in the first year. The inspection is good for 5 years so that means an average savings of approximately $1,250. Some residents save more, especially those that live near the coast. Each homeowner is provided a Uniform Mitigation Verification Inspection Form (OIR 1802 form) to send to their insurance company. This form provides insurance companies with the information to determine insurance premium discounts. Cost of inspection? ( Ask About Special ) We have a standard rate of $250 for all residences.
